What is CBT?

IMG_0109.jpg

CBT is built on the premise that your thoughts, feelings, physical sensations, and actions are intricately connected. Negative thoughts and emotions can create a relentless cycle, as depicted on the left.

The core aim of CBT is to empower you to confront overwhelming issues by breaking them into manageable components. You will be guided to recognise and modify these negative patterns, leading to improved thoughts and emotions.

Unlike some traditional therapies, CBT concentrates on your current challenges, focusing on interpreting negative thoughts rather than delving into past matters.

In our sessions, I will delve into the ABC's of CBT. This method is designed not only to address current issues but also to prevent mental health concerns and nurture positive thinking that fosters clarity.

The ABC's of CBT involve maintaining cognitive awareness, countering distorted thoughts, and achieving a harmonious balance between rational and emotional responses. Your path to transformation begins here."

What is EMDR?

EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is a powerful therapeutic method that empowers you to process and release the grip of negative images, emotions, beliefs, and physical sensations connected to traumatic memories. These unresolved traumas often contribute to a spectrum of mental health challenges.

EMDR offers a fresh perspective and relief from the symptoms that have held you captive.

Renowned for its effectiveness in treating trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), EMDR is a structured journey we embark on together. It commences with a comprehensive assessment of your current symptoms and your readiness for the EMDR process, and dives deep into understanding the profound impact of your past on your present.

EMDR employs techniques involving bilateral eye movements, alternating sounds in headphones, or tapping on various sides of your body. These strategies mirror the rapid eye movements (REM) that occur during dream sleep.

At the core of EMDR is the goal of helping you release the grip of traumatic memories that have been lodged in neural pathways. The treatment's objective is to reconnect these memories with networks holding adaptive information, ultimately promoting healing and resolution. Your transformative journey starts here!
